Helping students and families build confidence, independence, and success

Welcome to Katie Speetzen Family Consulting

Support that sticks. Coaching that clicks. For the whole family!

IF YOU'RE CONSTANTLY REMINDING YOUR CHILD TO START THEIR HOMEWORK… AGAIN…

If mornings feel more like a tactical mission than a peaceful routine…
If your once-happy family dinner now includes debates about late assignments, lost folders, and forgotten passwords—
You’re not alone.

Executive functioning challenges don’t just impact students—they affect the whole household. And when the after-school hours hit—when backpacks explode, activities overlap, dinner needs cooking, and homework looms—it’s enough to make even the most organized parent feel like they’re juggling flaming swords.

That’s where I come in.

I’m Katie Speetzen, a seasoned educator and concierge executive functioning coach who works with your whole family to build an environment where every person thrives. My approach is high-touch and highly personalized—because there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to real life.

Testimonials

The Speetzen Family Story

Hi, I’m Katie! I am a National Board Certified Teacher with a Bachelor's in History from Northwestern University, a Master's in Education from DePaul University, and over 15 years of experience in education, coaching, and public speaking. I specialize in executive functioning and confidence coaching for students and their families, helping students build organization, time management, and self-advocacy skills. Finally, I’m the author of Chaos to Calm(ish), a parenting advice column in Hillgrove Avenue Magazine and other publications.

With a background in stand-up comedy and motivational speaking, I incorporate humor and storytelling into my work, making learning an engaging and accessible experience. My mission is to help students and families develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Most importantly, I’m a proud mom of two daughters who love to tutor others, run cross country, play the drums, participate in drama, play hockey, and dive into epic Dungeons & Dragons adventures. My husband also plays hockey (if we don’t keep up with our family systems, we trip over a lot of gear). When I’m in the Calm(ish), I enjoy reading horror novels, discovering obscure bands that really aren’t that obscure, and spending time with our diva dog, Zelda.

How We Work Together

Let’s Start with a 20-Minute Discovery Call

Before we dive in, let’s take a step back and see if we’re a good fit for each other.

During this 20-minute parent call, I’ll get to know your family’s strengths, challenges, and the support you’re looking for. I’ll also share how I work so you can decide if it feels like the right match. If it is, we’ll talk about next steps. If it’s not, that’s helpful to know too.

I work with families in the Chicago western suburbs in person and with families across the country virtually.

It all begins with the relationship. I love working with the whole family because your kids are an essential part of the process. What brings them joy? What feels hard right now? Do they wish their siblings would finally help with the dishes instead of hiding in the bathroom after dinner? (My brother never did this. Okay, maybe he did.)

Let’s talk and see if this feels like the right fit. Book your free 20-minute discovery call.
